During the summer of 2026, I spent five weeks at the Summer Science Program (SSP), a prestigious program hosted at the University of Guelph with a 7% acceptance rate. There, I worked alongside fellow students to investigate the genetic mechanisms underlying kanamycin resistance in Vibrio natriegens. Our research involved bacterial transformation, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), gel electrophoresis, and experimental analysis.
